The two main exhibition components of Poly-Kroma include: the Industry Portfolio Showcase—also known as the graduating senior Visual Communication Design majors exhibition; and the 2D3D+ Juried Student Art Show—the annual Art Department’s student exhibition.
An additional multi-media event is added to Poly-Kroma and spearheaded by Department of Art Assistant Professors Jian Lee and Jeff Ray. The 2026 Poly-Kroma Motion Festival both celebrates, and features, time-based artwork—including motion graphics and animation—by Visual Communication Design students of all grade levels. The festival is curated by faculty and industry leaders. This year’s Motion Festival is held after the 2D3D+ Opening Reception & Award Ceremony on May 1st, 8–9:30pm, and will be screened outdoors, on the University Park lawn in front of the Kellogg Art Gallery. The Motion Festival is also given space within the Kellogg Art Gallery to be on view throughout the duration of the Poly-Kroma exhibition.
The Industry Portfolio Showcase for 2026 presents senior graphic design portfolios and collateral material from the Professional Practices in Visual Communication Design course. The portfolios include selected works and projects from the totality of the student’s experience at Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½. The resulting exhibition is a team effort that represents progressive accomplishments achieved throughout the curriculum. Industry Day is an event open to industry professionals that are looking to recruit recent graduates of Visual Communication Design, and an opportunity for seniors to showcase their portfolios of work to prospective employers.
The 2D3D+ Annual Juried Show is a competition-based exhibition, juried by industry professionals, including alumni, and displays the art and design work of students in the Bachelor of Fine Art program, featuring fine art and graphic and visual communication design work by students at all academic levels.
