About Me

I am an Assistant Professor in the  at  (Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½). I earned a B.S. in Computer Science from , Brazil (2001), an especialization in Software Quality Assurance and Management from , Brazil (2013), a M.S. in Computer Science from , Brazil (2013), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from , USA (2020), where I proposed a hacker-centric perspective to empower cyber-defense. After defending my Ph.D. dissertation in April 2020, I joined Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ in Fall 2020. I have also worked from 2001 until 2010 in my own software factory , where my team designed custom-built, requirements-oriented, high-performance software solutions for different type of companies.                                                                   

My current research interests are in the proactive cyber-threat intelligence area, where I apply artificial intelligence, machine learning, and social network ananlysis into cybersecurity to predict future cyber-threats against organizations. I am also the director of the Cyber Adaptive Learning Systems Laboratory (CALSys Lab) at Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½. It usually offers research assistant positions for undergraduate and graduate students interested in gaining real-world research experience.
