About Me

Dr. Fan (Ann) Wang is Assistant Professor of International Business & Marketing and Gregoire Career Fellow at Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½. Her research examines how entrepreneurs, content creators, and consumers make decisions in digital and global markets — with a focus on emotion, authenticity, and uncertainty.

She teaches IBM 4161 (International Exporting) and IBM 4801 (International Business Strategy), emphasizing market intelligence, applied analysis, and responsible AI use.

Before academia, Dr. Wang worked in international purchasing, logistics, and business development — experience she draws on directly in the classroom.

Research Interests

Dr. Wang’s research focuses on three related areas: internationalization, digital marketing, and shared cognition. Her current research interests include:

  • Internationalization under uncertainty — SME decision-making and the role of emotion
  • Creator economy & authenticity — self-disclosure, vulnerability, and audience response
  • Shared cognition in digital markets — co-experience and social influence in consumer behavior
