Construction Management Certificate Program
The Construction Management Certificate Program provides a flexible and comprehensive pathway for professionals looking to advance their careers in the construction industry. The program consists of six specialized courses covering legal aspects of construction, project management for construction, scheduling, basic construction accounting, estimating and bidding, and negotiation techniques.
Students can choose to complete the program at an accelerated pace by taking two courses per term, finishing in as little as one year, or take a more flexible approach by enrolling in one course per term, allowing for completion within two years. Courses are offered in the evenings, on Cal Poly ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½’s campus, typically once a week, and can be taken in any order to accommodate busy schedules.

Upcoming Courses
This course will provide the students with a good understanding of the concepts of Critical Path Method of Scheduling and a working knowledge of the steps involved in developing a C.P.M. Schedule, which is a requirement of virtually all construction contracts in today’s industry. The history of schedule development, from a planning tool to a comprehensive project management tool is covered. Logic development, detailed cost loading, manpower loading, equipment utilization, disruption and delay analysis, and float identification and manipulation are covered in this course.

Introduction to Accounting and Financial Management to acquaint the student of Construction Management with the many financial aspects used in the construction industry and in the field to properly manage the process of construction as well as monitoring the basic risk of losing monies while managing the construction process. Review the process for the creation of the contractor’s schedule of values and the processing of the monthly payment process for contractors and subcontractors. Review of the change order requests, and the accounting tools needed to verify and confirm the validity of the requests and the financial impact on the overall project.
