Derek Romo

Role in the Center: Advisory Board Member
A marketing veteran with over 10 years of experience specializing in CRM, SMS, email marketing, and consumer insights. Currently, he drives e-commerce growth and omnichannel activation at STANCE, where he has successfully established SMS as a new revenue channel and significantly expanded automation and journey attribution revenue. Previously, he held key CRM, lifecycle management, and data analytics roles at JustFoodForDogs, Windsor Fashions, Vans, and AEG Worldwide, focusing on customer retention, loyalty program launches, and business intelligence.
Derek earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing Management from Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½. Additionally, he expanded his technical expertise by completing a Certificate in Database Management and Business Intelligence from UCLA Extension in 2015.
His extensive experience encompasses Customer Relationship Management (CRM), email and SMS marketing, omnichannel activation, and the strategic implementation of Customer Data Platforms (CDPs). Furthermore, he is highly skilled in driving customer retention and building loyalty programs, utilizing business intelligence and data analytics tools such as Tableau, Google Analytics, Alteryx, and SQL to generate actionable consumer insights.
He has achieved specialized industry recognition in digital marketing platforms, currently holding both the Klaviyo Product Certificate and the Klaviyo Deliverability Certification.
Serving on the CCIDM Advisory Board, Derek brings a wealth of practical industry expertise back to his alma mater. As a Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ alumnus, he leverages his background in CRM, data-driven consumer analytics, and digital marketing strategies to support the Center's initiatives and foster student development.
