Emerging technologies have the potential to enhance teaching and learning by providing new ways to engage with content, generate ideas, and assist in problem-solving. Academic Affairs acknowledges and is committed to ensuring that use of such technologies promotes creativity, innovation, and learning, while safeguarding Cal Poly ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½â€™s core values. Supported by the Kellogg Legacy Endowment, this grant program is intended to support and advance faculty work in integrating generative AI (gAI) into the curriculum through the development of new courses or the updating of existing courses. The goal is to help faculty engage in innovative curriculum design and implementation, leading to enhanced student learning and skill development in gAI.

Application Open: February 25 - April 17, 2026

Award

For each new or updated extended course outline (ECO), a total of $2,000 will be awarded to the faculty member (or team) who completed the work. ECOs, including the elements described in the application, must be submitted to Curriculog by September 4, 2026. Awardees will meet as a group in August to share ideas and feedback. Funds may be awarded as a stipend or transferred to an established Foundation account (e.g., for a grant project).

Eligibility

Only continuing tenured/tenure-track faculty are eligible for this grant as tenure-line faculty are responsible for developing and maintaining ECOs.

Review Process

Proposals will be reviewed by the Emerging Technology Governance Committee. Successful proposals will demonstrate a clear alignment with the goals of the grant program and a strong potential for positive impact on student learning. Awards will be announced by May 15, 2026.
