What is an Alumni Volunteer?
Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ alumni volunteers are individuals who freely choose to donate their time and resources to assist Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ in the following ways:
- Program or event panelist, speaker, moderator, or facilitator
- College or University based board or advisory member
- Alumni Association chapter leader
- Mentor, including in person or virtual
Without the promise or expectation of receiving compensation for their services.
Volunteer Expectations & Guidelines
- Act in a professional manner as a representative of Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ University
- Respect, uphold and support the vision, mission, and strategic initiatives of the Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ and/or Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ Alumni Association.
- Serve as a Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ champion and goodwill ambassador among peers and in the community.
- Know general facts about the university, as well as how to refer others to the Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ Alumni Association website and social media.
- Share your Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ experience and how it has prepared you for success after college with fellow alumni, students, prospective students and families.
- Do not make any comment or promise regarding the possibility of a student’s admissibility
- Identify yourself as a Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ alumni volunteer.
- A Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ volunteer is expected to abide by Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ policies and regulations that govern their actions, including but not limited to those of prohibited against discrimination and harassment, ethical behavior, confidentiality, financial responsibility safety, and substance use.
Qualifications:
- Effective communicator
- Enthusiasm for Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½
- Ability and desire to interact with people from different backgrounds
- Ideology aligned with Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½’s goals and objectives
