A food science and technology graduate student took first place in her division at the California State University Systemwide Student Research Competition.
Jocelyne Argueta won the Health, Nutrition and Clinical Sciences category at the competition, which was held April 23-25 at San Jose State University.
Argueta’s research project was “Effect of Maillard Conjugates vs. Electrostatic Deposition on the Formation of Lutein-Enriched Emulsions.” Professor Gabriel Davidov-Pardo is her faculty mentor.
For 40 years, the competition has showcased outstanding research, scholarship, and creative work by undergraduate and graduate students from all academic disciplines among the CSU’s campuses.
It provides students an opportunity to present their original work to a panel of expert judges.
Argueta was one of nine students who represented Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ at the competition.
She earned her right to participate by winning the Exemplary Oral Presentation in the Biological and Agricultural Session at the Cal Poly Ðǿմ«Ã½ Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities Conference on March 7.
The conference was sponsored by the university’s Office of Undergraduate Research.
